Carlos Quentin Done For The Season? Nooooooooooo
Bad, very bad news for Chicago White Sox fans this Friday afternoon as their team battles the Minnesota Twins for a playoff spot. Carlos Quentin, he of offseason steal and AL MVP candidate fame, might very well be done for the year.
The harrowing details:
Carlos Quentin’s season appears to be over as the White Sox left fielder and MVP candidate suffered a fractured right wrist that will require surgery Monday, according to sources.
It’s not certain how Quentin suffered the injury, but speculation is he punched a locker in Boston. He was a late scratch before Monday’s game in Cleveland and hasn’t played since.
White Sox fans: deep breaths. Do some stretching. Perhaps some yoga or pilates. Pour yourself a hot bath and get the candles out. Play some Enya. Try and relax.
Actually, just go out and get hammered tonight. That’s probably the best way to handle this.
UPDATE: The Tribune is reporting he’s having wrist surgery and the Sox will re-evaluate how he’s feeling in two to three weeks.
UPDATE No. 2: World from U.S. Cellular before tonight’s game is Quentin sustained this injury after slamming a bat in frustration after an at-bat Monday. WHOOPS! (Here is Quentin’s explanation of it. I guess it was during an at-bat.)
