Sox Rock Tigers; Face Twins Tonight For All The AL Central Marbles
All they needed was one big hit. And it came from the bat of the littlest guy - wiry Alexei Ramirez.
At the crack of the bat, Alexei threw both hands up, stretched them apart and clapped as he circled the bases during his grand slam in the sixth — a blast that was good for his fourth grand slam of the year (a rookie record) and catapulted the White Sox to a must-win victory against the disenfranchised Tigers.
So these Sox live to see another day, playing their third team in as many days. Playing a team that swept them last week, but a team they’ve dominated at home. Those pesky Twins are back once more and will either be sent packing back to the Twin Cities, or packing to Tampa Bay.
Chicago sports columnists will tell you today that after sliding so quickly down the mountain last week and being able to somehow grab the edge of the cliff with a hand, the Sox had best pull themselves up this evening against the Twins or it’s all for naught.
I don’t think you’ll find anyone with a dissenting opinion on that one.
