Cubs Fan Throws Ball At Manny; Cubs Fan Gets Arrested
The stories trickling in from Wrigley Field last night are really quite something. If the Cubs played in the playoffs every night, a blogger would not want for fodder. We’ve had the fans in khakis, the priest, and now we have the fan throwing a baseball at Manny Ramirez.
A Lincoln Park man was arrested for attempting to strike Los Angeles Dodgers’ left fielder Manny Ramirez with a baseball during the Cubs Wednesday night playoff loss at Wrigley Field.
Solans, 31, of the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, was charged with reckless conduct and is scheduled to appear in misdemeanor court (Br.29) at the 2400 block of West Belmont Avenue on Oct. 23, police said.
Solans caught Dodgers home run and, instead of immediately throwing it back onto the field, attempted to throw it at Ramirez when the Dodgers returned to the field. Security guards “grabbed him” and turned him over to Chicago Police, police said.
As awesome as it would have been if this was the ball Manny blasted out to left field in the seventh, WLS-TV (via Sports By Brooks) notes it was not actually said ball. Because Cubs fans always throw home runs right back. Duh.
Good news, everybody: there’s another Cubs game tonight! And it’s later in the evening! Should make for some fun times, no?
