Steve Rosenbloom Still Wants Bears To Fire Someone
Last we checked in with Steve Rosenbloom, he was pretty adamant about the Bears needing to fire someone … after Week 3. Specifically, cornerback Charles Tillman, because of a personal foul call against him. Kneejerk much?
Anyways, now that the Bears floundered disastrously yesterday against the Packers, Steve Rosenbloom is at it again:
Is Bob Babich still employed by the Bears?
Why?
Lovie Smith, same questions.
There have been times where Smith has embarrassed himself as head coach of the Bears — Adam Archuleta, hel-lo; Mark Anderson starting ahead of Alex Brown, yeesh — but he might’ve exceeded all forms embarrassment post-game Sunday.
Post-humiliation Sunday, I mean.
Specifically, I’m talking about Smith’s statement after Green Bay’s 37-3 vivisection of the Bears that the Packers “came out from the start with a purpose.”
Excuse me? A purpose? Don’t all NFL teams come out with that? I mean, they play only 16 games a season. Sounds like purpose enough to me, no?
Though Rosenbloom’s call for a firing has a bit more backing behind it as the Bears sit at 5-5 later in the season here, I’d like to point this out: the Bears are in first place. Yeah, the defense isn’t what it used to be and this team, for all intents and purposes, is rather mediocre. But, they are right there in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs now with six games to go. Firing a coach and a defensive coordinator seems to be an incredibly bad idea at this juncture. Let’s settle down a bit, eh?
It seems like Rosenbloom — and a lot of MSM guys — are a bit angry with Lovie because he’s so mild-mannered at the podium, doesn’t show anger and doesn’t place much blame. This is how Love is; this is how he’s always been. It ain’t gonna change.
But hey: we should totally fire the whole team, bro.
