The Two Indian Pitchers The Pirates Picked Up Yesterday? Yeah, They Blog.

By Ryan Corazza

Yesterday, the Pirates inked two 20-year-old pitchers, Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, from India to free-agent contracts. At first glance, no biggie, other than that fact that they’re supposedly the first people from India to sign a baseball contract outside their country.

Then you read more about it, and you realize these two dudes were part of some reality show in India called “The Million Dollar Arm” in which contestants tried to throw a baseball 85 miles per hour for strikes. And after that, they moved to America six months ago to work with a pitching coach in Southern California. Also, they have the greatest blog on Earth.

A sample entry from Halloween:

Tonight we were celebrating the Halloween Holiday here in America.  we are not sure what the holiday comes from, but kids dress up in all kinds of crazy outfits and then go to houses asking for sweets.  if people in the house no give the sweets then the kids put toilet paper in their trees.

[ ... ]

The most crazy are the men that dressed up like women… That and the women drinking in public were the most shocking things to us.

We also got to ride in an enormous automobile called a limousine.  It could fit about 10 people inside,  There was special lights that kept changing colors inside with a TV and even a place for cold drinks.  Our driver Steve treated us very well.  he was a nice man.

This. Is. Awesome. Yes, these guys have already been in one reality show, but it’s not too late for a second one, right? Let’s call it: “Rinku and Dinesh’s Excellent Adventure.”
