Everybody’s Blogging For The Weekend: Maury Brings Good News

When it’s winter, it’s sometimes hard to muster up much courage to step out of your place. It’s unbearably cold, it’s windy, maybe it’s even snowing. Winter makes us anti-social, makes us introverts. Let’s face it: We are weak, privileged individuals who pump heat into our homes when it’s cold outside. And we enjoy that comfort very much. (Plus, you can just drink on your couch.)
This weekend, I am afforded no such luxury. I’m hitting up the TBOX bar crawl tomorrow morning and afternoon, and heading to two holiday parties thereafter in the evening. (I’m actually not popular. Not at all. I had to pay people lots of money to get an invite to those parties. And I’m still a maybe depending on capacity. Fingers crossed! )
I did, however, debate whether I really wanted to spend a Saturday afternoon slogging around Clark Street like an idiot, for the above reasons. It’s cold. I’d rather sit around. I’d rather not have to solider through an entire day of drinking into the evening.
But then I figured this: In 10 years from now when I’m 33 with a wife and a kid and I have to worry about what I’m doing with the inlaws for the holidays, I will remember TBOX; I will not remember sitting around watching TV on a lonely Saturday in my jammies. Life’s about doing what you can while you still can. Don’t forget that.
