FOX Announces Where BCS Title Game Will Be Shown In 3D; Chicago Left Off List
So, I’ve become a bit fascinated with the whole 3D phenomenon that’s hit the last few weeks here. They say sports in 3D is like the action is right in your lap. Cool. I like action in my lap. And, with the announcement that several theaters across the country are going to be showing the BCS Championship game, I was all set to pay some money and check it out for myself. Heck, I was even going to report back with a blog post about it. Yes, this is how my mind operates.
But yeah, not going to happen. That’s because they’re not showing it at a theater in Chicago. Via AA, here’s the spots in Illinois it’s going down:
ILLINOIS
CHAMPAIGN
Carmike Beverly Cinemas 18
(217) 359-4995 x4
DEKALB
Carmike Market Square 10
(815) 748-7887 x4
PEORIA
Rave Grand Prairie 18
(309) 282-7308
When I think of new, innovative sports broadcast technology for the masses, I always think of Peoria, Champaign and Dekalb. Ha. No I don’t.
I’m guessing the reason Chicago didn’t make the cut is because Cinedigm, the company working with FOX on this to put it in the theaters, doesn’t have a deal structured anywhere in Chicagoland. Peaking at some of the other states, a lot of other major hubs (Indianapolis, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Minneapolis) won’t be showing the game at theaters either.
Whatever, this is just a conspircacy for me not to be able to watch a game in 3D. I’m sure of it.
