Barack Obama Has Chosen: Go Steelers
Hey, great! Barack Obama said something else about sports. So I get to blog about it. Barack Obama, Barack Obama, Barack Obama. Sorry, just had to get a few more of those in there for no reason at all. No one is Googling anything about Barack Obama or anything. Did you guys also hear he thinks Kobe Bryant is the best basketball player on Earth? Man, our President sure is hip to the sporting topics of the day.
What’s that you say about some sort of stimulus package passing in the House yesterday? I don’t know anything about that.
All I know is Barack Obama is rooting for the Steelers in the Super Bowl come Sunday. And so is Joe Biden. But no one cares about him.
“I have to say, you know, I wish the Cardinals the best,” Obama replied. “You know, Kurt Warner is a great story, and he’s closer to my age than anybody else on the field. But I am a longtime Steelers fan.”
He went on to explain that Steelers owner Dan Rooney was “an extraordinary supporter” during his presidential campaign. Franco Harris, the Steelers’ Hall of Fame running back, and the team’s current head coach, Mike Tomlin, also backed his candidacy, Obama said.
“So . . . I wish the best to the Cardinals,” the former senator from Illinois continued. “They’ve been long-suffering. It’s a great Cinderella story. But other than the Bears, the Steelers are probably the team that’s closest to my heart. All right?”
Don’t lie, Barry. The real reason you’re rooting for the Steelers is because John McCain is a Cardinals fan. You aren’t fooling me.
