Marcus Jordan, Whitney Young Win State Championship While Michael Cries In Stands

Marcus Jordan transferred to Whitney Young two years ago from Loyola, in part to gain a bit more exposure. Well, I’d say a state title might have helped his case a little. Saturday, his Dolphins beat Waukegen — a team who, if you remember, features this dude — 69-66 to win the 4A title.

Marcus had 19 points, including four free throw in the last 26 seconds to seal the victory. Daddy apparently was crying in the stands:

“Crying?” the NBA great said in response to a reporter’s question. “I’m not crying. Not for me, anyway.

Marcus still hasn’t picked a school yet — I blogged about some of his struggles in that department a few months back — but, he has a considerable amount more talent than his older brother Jeff. And Jeff actually saw some decent minutes this year for the Illini as he went from preferred walk-on to a scholarship this year, so you’d think Marcus would be able to nab an offer somewhere.

Though, Rivals only has an offer from Miami on the table at the moment. Maybe Jeff and Marcus can go play together in Europe in a few years. Or maybe they can just live off daddy’s name after their college days are done.

Either one should work out just fine.

I am sure Rivals only has an offer from Miami on the table at the moment. Maybe Jeff and Marcus can go play together in Europe in a few years. Or maybe they can just live off daddy’s name after their college days are done. Then will come the real part of life to play.

So boo on James (and Kevin Garnett) for throwing that crap into the air. And kudos to Bryant, who gets his and bends at the waist to lower his hands toward the floor, discreetly dispersing it with slow claps that keep it out of harm’s way.
