Dude, Bro, We’re Totally Gonna Get To Meet Natalie Gulbis Now

Pro sports leagues and franchises have been struggling to figure out what to do with we pesky bloggers for a while now. In 2007, the Islanders took a bold step forward by introducing the “Blog Box,” where those that actually care enough about the New York Islanders can go, sit and pretend they’re part of the respected media establishment. (Who knew so many people blogged about the Islanders?)
As other teams and leagues utilize bloggers to varying degrees, one rule seems to be emerging: the sports that need bloggers for publicity are happy to have them. The others? Not so much.
Continuing with that pattern is the LPGA’s announcement that it will credential bloggers for Tour events. Exciting! Media 2.0! The long tail! Crowdsourcing! Other buzzwords!
Of course, there are some ground rules for bloggers that want a press pass. Their advertising must be appropriate, they must have a decent traffic base, the blog must have original content and a journalistic background and yeah yeah whatever, LPGA. Brass tacks: When do we get to meet da ladiezzzz? Ooh, Natalie, I have some questions. Question one: What is your favorite thing about how handsome I am?
