White Sox Bring Scott Podsednik Back To Chicago, Now Lead League In Intangibles
Scott Podsednik is a viable option for some fantasy teams in head-to-head leagues. He’s hit a total of -20 home runs in his entire career, but he’s still capable of stealing the occasional base. It’s a shame that real-life baseball teams don’t get points for stealing more bases than the other team, though, because the White Sox have acquired him. Kenny Williams can barely contain his enthusiasm.
“We are considering all of our options and now he is one of them,” White Sox general manager Ken Williams said Tuesday in an e-mail.
Come on, guy, at least pretend to be excited. Podsednik is fun to watch. I know this because in 2005, during his first tour with the Sox, he finished 12th in MVP voting despite posting an 86 OPS+ and leading the league in times caught stealing. He must have been really, really fun to watch to receive any MVP consideration. Maybe they concluded that he was instrumental to the team’s World Series win? Maybe he rode a unicycle around the bases while juggling torches? I got nothing.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to add Podsednik to my fantasy roster. I’m losing this week in the Intangibles category by the score of 76 to T, and I think this guy could give me an edge.
