Boots Of Baseball Leather: Bob Dylan Coming To A Ballpark Near You
Like Craig at Shysterball, the combination of Bob Dylan and the ballpark is halfway to my personal Nirvana. (When I read his post, I actually flipped some Dylan on in my iTunes. This might continue the rest of the afternoon.) As such, the minor league ballpark tour he’ll be embarking on this summer with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp is something I should definitely see. I’ve heard Dylan’s live show nowadays is pretty weak, but I’ve yet to see him live, and it’s just something I must do before he dies or stops touring, right?
As for the other acts, I’ll admit to not knowing enough Willie Nelson music to comment. I’m pretty meh on John Mellencamp. He gets bonus points for living on Lake Monroe in Bloomington and showing up to Indiana basketball games regularly, but I’ve never enjoyed his music in a personal setting, just bars. This is not a good thing. And that “This is Our Country” Chevy commercial still gives me nightmares. Dear Lord.
Some details:
Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp will share the bill during a U.S. summer tour of minor league baseball parks, beginning July 2 at the GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill., and wrapping Aug. 15 at the Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, Calif.
The upcoming 22-date tour marks the second time over the past 24 years that Dylan, Nelson and Mellencamp have shared the staged, according to a news release.
Kids under the age of 14 are free with an adult ticker holder. Though, you might have to distract them from the Lady Gaga on their iPod for a few hours.
