Corie Blount’s Sentencing Bringing Out The Jokes In Everyone

Back in December, former Bull Corie Blount got caught with a fat stack of weed. Eleven pounds were intercepted by police that was sent to a relative’s house he owns; an additional 18 pounds were found in his home. I’m no fire marshal, but I think if you lit all that on fire, it might take three years for it to completely burn.
Anyway, because having that amount of weed is illegal, (or so I’ve heard) Blount went to trial. Today, he was sentenced to two years in prison. But not before the judge made a joke that was relevant 30 years ago:
Although Judge Craig Hedric did not sentence Blount to the maximum 10 years in prison, he rejected Blount’s claim that the marijuana was intended for personal use and to share with friends.
“Cheech and Chong would have had a hard time smoking that much,” Hedric told Blount.
Hedric fined Blount $10,000 and ordered him to surrender two vehicles and $34,000 in cash seized in the bust.
Later, the judge went home and watched the debut episode of “Dallas” on CBS. Zing! But it’s not just the judge who is having some fun here. ESPN’s Chris McKendry got in on the act, too. Just a few seconds into her reporting of the story, she starts laughing, and really never stops. (Video here.)
Either she found that Cheech and Chong joke much funnier than I did, or all that weed the cops confiscated from Blount is funneling inside ESPN’s air ducts.
