Elton John Loves Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau More Than You
Celebrity pairings are always fun. Did you guys see Tobey Maguire and Kevin Connelly sitting next to each other at the Lakers game last night? That’s so cool, famous people being friends. But those bros are actors, and have been friends for a long time. Famous people cross-genre is really where it’s at. John Mayer and Kanye West chilling in the studio? What a crazy juxtaposition!
But we’ve got one to top all these. Elton John, he of duck costumes, zany glasses and songs about rocketmen and tiny dancers fame, is a huge baseball fan. And he really likes Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau. So much, in fact, that he recently bartered autographed pictures with the Twins.
Rock legend Elton John, a big baseball fan, requested autographed pictures of the Twins’ Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau, and in exchange provided autographed pictures of himself.
John told Mauer he’s the best catcher in the major leagues and said he wished Morneau played for the Atlanta Braves, of whom John is a big fan.
Is this what celebrities do? Barter off autographed pictures of themselves instead of using cash? “Yes waiter, I’ll have another scotch on the rocks. And no, sorry, I don’t have any cash. But here’s an autographed picture of me from my 1986 World Tour. It’s worth at least 14 times the price of this drink. Now mush.”

Corazza, are you really too classy of a writer to avoid the minefield of gay jokes in this post? Or is the joke on me for pointing that out?
