Brett Favre Uses Pronoun ‘We’ When Discussing Vikings
“Joe Buck Live” debuted last evening on HBO, and I did not watch any of it. But there’s this thing called the Internet — it usually catches you up to speed on the relevant topics from the previous evening.
As such, I’ve learned a few things about the show: Joe Buck is apparently a piece of driftwood, Artie Lang was inappropriate, (though, some argue that was to generate buzz for the show) and Brett Favre was the first guest. MJD has a nice synopsis of the interview, and the most telling stuff was this:
• Although he’d only commit to the original “maybe,” Favre talked a lot about reasons why he would like to play for the Vikings (Adrian Peterson, how well he knows the offense) and didn’t talk at all about reasons he might not want to play for the Vikings.
• At one point, as he was finishing a thought about the talent on the Vikings roster, he said, “We should be pretty good.”
Again, the word he used was “we,” as opposed to “they,” and it wasn’t the royal “we” that one might associate with former Deadspin editor Will Leitch.
As MJD later notes, perhaps this was just a slip up by Favre. I concur. But, as MJD also notes (see how I keep just using his opinion!), when you pair that word with the totality of his interview, it becomes quite clear that pending his arm’s health, Favre is heading to the Vikings this season. Oh joy.
