Brandon Jennings Gets Drafted, Interprets Stone Cold Steve Austin
Last night’s was a somewhat uneventful NBA draft, or at least it felt so. Point guard after point guard, potential pick after potential pick, there’s no denying that this year’s go-round was a little low on top-tier talent — no one but Blake Griffin seems a sure thing — and a little high on players who will probably top out as role guys, nothing more.
But there was some intrigue. DeJuan Blair’s fall to the second round still truly vexes me, especially given the Bulls’ Taj Gibson selection. There was the constant point guard onslaught of the Minnesota TimberLOLves. And there was Brandon Jennings, whose agent informed the media before the draft that Jennings would be staying home to watch the draft thanks to his uncertain draft position.
Jennings didn’t stay home. Oh no he diduhn’t. A few picks after his name was called, Jennings showed up out of nowhere and waltzed out of the back room onto the stage. David Stern appeared … perplexed.
The only thing missing was a chair, some guzzling of beers, some breaking of glass, and this:
“Oh no! That’s Stone Cold Steve Austin! And he’s got the chair! Oh IT’S THE STUNNER! OHHHHHH!”
