New SBNation.com Launches, Features Two Of Our Own

Last evening, SBNation.com officially relaunched, and it’s pretty terrific. Gone is the generic portal to all their blogs, and in has come a whole depth of real-time sports news. They’re calling the main items “storystreams,” which essentially means a topic continues to be updated until it reaches its natural conclusion. For instance, if you take a peek at their Melanie Oudin stream which is linked on the site this morning, you can see all the information about her unlikely run through the U.S. Open all the way back to her first upset, all under one link. Essentially anything relevant that’s happened with her since Sept. 3 — including her mishap at the hotel — is all there; you don’t have to click back through to old links or Google to find more about her, it’s all right there for you. It’s a great idea, and one that’s missing in the sports media landscape.
There’s also a microblog down the left rail that’s constantly updated, which hits just about everything relevant, timely and blogworthy in the news cycle.
Oh, and lest I forget, our own Eamonn Brennan is editing this wild beast at night, while our own Jon Bois is the weekend editor.
And hey, TechCrunch even wrote about it! And so did the Washington Post, where Eamonn not only got a name-check, but they were factually inaccurate about his duties at the Dagger! Sweet!
Congrats to Chris Mottram, who has been slaving away at this guy for the last four months, and best of luck to everyone involved.
