Jay Cutler Apologizes For All Those Picks
So, remember when Jay Cutler acted like he didn’t care after Sunday’s loss to the Packers? How Mike Martz and Jim Mora ripped him a new one for it? And how he supposedly always blames his teammates for things, even when he’s a main culprit, too?
Well, as it turns out, Jay Cutler can accept blame for his actions! How about that? Yesterday during a press conference, Cutler was questioned on the loss and a few other topics, and he said stuff like this:
“Any time you put a defense in a hole like I did with four picks it’s going to be tough. I’ve got to limit that,” Cutler said, adding he was disappointed in his own performance. “But on a good note, we did some good things out there. We made some plays, our receivers played well, the line played well. I’ve just got to pick it up.”
“I’m disappointed. The locker room’s disappointed in the loss. I’m disappointed in my performance. I let the guys down, four picks. But we can’t dwell on it. I can’t dwell on it. We’ve got to keep going. The city obviously is probably a little bit disappointed as well. We’re going to bounce back, I’m going to bounce back. We’re going to get better. That I can promise you.”
Progress! Whether he’s genuine or not — which, I would have to think he is here … I mean, four picks? — is irrelevant. As long as he’s saying what he should be saying and not stepping on any toes, it should serve to keep some of the off-field criticism at bay, and have us focus on his on-field performance.
