Source: Mike Martz Wants To Work With Jay Cutler
Hey, if the Bears don’t end up canning Lovie Smith, what about starting over on offense with a new coordinator? It’s a possibility; just about any scenario of change could happen after this disappointing season. Well, according to a Brad Biggs source, Mike Martz, he of St.-Louis-Rams-let’s-air-it-out-for-a-million-yards fame “would love to work with Jay Cutler.”
And I mean, who wouldn’t? What a charming and sweet and personable guy Cutler is! Anyway, I like the sound of this. Martz may have struggled for two season in Detroit — who wouldn’t have with that personnel? — and his run last year with San Fransisco wasn’t too pretty either.
But I think his big-play persona would be a nice change of pace, and something Cutler could potentially thrive in if he ever gets back on the saddle.
Add in that Smith and Martz are buddies — in 2001, Martz hired Smith as his defensive coordinator in St. Louis — and we have a fun little prospect here.
But you know, that offensive line isn’t going to fix itself.
