Bulls Lose To Nets; Season Goes From Bad To Worse

By Ryan Corazza

Guys. What’s up? How we doing? We good? Good.

Anyone up for hearing about my internal monologue? Great. Wonderful. Fantastic.

So Monday, I took a peek at the Bulls schedule and noticed they were playing the Nets on Tuesday night. The at-the-time 1-19 Nets. Pretty much the worst team in the league, save for maybe the Timberwolves. Now, one would think I might look at the game and be like: “Phew, the Bulls are playing a very bad team after they’ve just dropped seven of eight and got absolutely embarrassed by the Raptors at home. This should be an easy win and give them some confidence heading into a difficult foe in the Hawks on Wednesday night.”

But — and this may shock some of you — I thought the opposite. I prepared for the worst. I figured this: “Oh man, the Bulls have been playing really bad. Derrick Rose is finally playing at the level he’s capable of, but with Tyrus Thomas and Kirk Hinrich out, this team becomes paper thin. When Lindsey Hunter and Jannero Pargo are seeing extended minutes, this is a bad thing. The Bulls have no bench. They have no post scoring threat. They have no 3-point threat. John Salmons has regressed. Brad Miller is old. This team is not very good right now! What if they end up losing to the lowly Nets, and this current slide goes a little lower? Are the Bulls going to fire Vinny Del Negro soon if they lose to the Nets even though they have no one to replace him and there are more problems than just the coach right now? Maybe!”

So then the Bulls were getting outclassed all game last night, but a solid fourth quarter had them in contention to win. Derrick Rose hit a big shot to put them ahead! Then Devin Harris came down and hit a very similar shot! Then Salmons, for some inexplicable reason, jacked a three with seven seconds left instead of trying to work the ball to Rose. He missed. The Nets hit their free throws. That was pretty much the ballgame.

The Bulls lost to the Nets. My internal monologue had become realized. This team is difficult and frustrating to watch.

The end.
