Tell ‘Em Tyrus: ‘I’m The Starting Power Forward’

It’s been a while and a good bit has happened since the last blog. The Lakers won the Championship, I went home to check on the kids in my retention program, C.A.T.C.H., I got another tattoo which will be on Mouthpiecesports.com’s TattooU (as soon as I get up with Mitch), the NBA draft and the world stopped when the GREATEST PERFORMER of all time passed!!

Although I didn’t watch much of the playoffs, I watched the Finals. I honestly feel the teams were equally matched, with the exception that the Lakers still had the taste of blood from last season’s Finals.

For those of you who don’t know about my retention program C.A.T.C.H., check it out at tyrusthomasinc.org. Working with those kids when I do has really allowed me to learn more about myself. It has also forced me to be more open and approachable. But I have to give shouts to my entire C.A.T.C.H. staff. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to fulfill my dream of helping others. I know it gets tough at times but they’ve been coming through like champs!

As for my tattoo, stay tuned to Mouthpiecesports.com for more on TattooU.

The draft! I keep getting the question “what’s up with the two forwards?” Let me say this, I’m the starting power forward and I don’t plan on playing anywhere but Chicago. Some may say I’m arrogant, or full of myself, some may even say I’m crazy! I’m just giving yall the truth.

Man! MJ!!!!!! … Enough said!

OK, OK, OK … I know it’s been a while since my last blog. I’ve been extremely busy. The playoffs… they didn’t go as planned but given the circumstances, we showed great signs. Outside of basketball I’ve been extremely focused on my non-profit, Tyrus Thomas Inc. Our first project is C.A.T.C.H ( Caring and Actively Teaching Children Hope). It is a retention program for rising high school freshmen. We will provide them with mentoring, tutoring as well as exposing them to situations that they may not otherwise get to experience. When the time comes we will provide them with assistance enrolling in college and living a successful life. You can find out more about it at tyrusthomasinc.org. Also, if you’re not following me on Twitter, do so: t_time24.

What’s up y’all? Well, we clinched a playoff spot, now we just have to finish the season strong.

Other than that, I’ve re-launched my non-profit organization, Tyrus Thomas, Inc. We are currently getting ready for our first summer program, CATCH, Caring and Actively Teaching Kids Hope. You can keep up with my non-profit at tyrusthomasinc.org.

Tell ‘Em Tyrus: Follow Me On Twitter

So, I finally got a Twitter. (Follow me! @t_time24.) It’s kind of cool actually. But I’m thinking about adding my own little twist to it. As you all know we are making a huge playoff push. On top of that, the weather should be about to break! Those two things will really have me showing my face more out in the city … Michigan Ave., baseball games and, of course, the Chicago Sky games, once they start.

Well here’s the twist. To be more active with my loyal fans that actually follow my career as well as my Twitter, I will start having “give away posts.” At any given time I’m out in the city, I may update my Twitter lettin’ you know exactly where I’m at and for how long. The first person to come to me and mention the Twitter will get whatever it is I’m giving away that day.

Tell ‘Em Tyrus: Twitter All The Rage

By Tyrus Thomas

It’s been a minute since my last blog and the new hot thing has been Twitter. I’m considering getting one but don’t know if I should. I don’t know how to really use and I don’t know how it really works.

Other than that I have a question for you guys to send me in your answers or comments: What is ghetto? What does ghetto mean to you? This is an hour-long convo between me and some friends and I would love to hear your response.

We’ve made a great push the last several games in the playoff race and are now in the seventh spot which feels really good for a team that’s been struggling the whole year. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going, keep guys healthy and make the city of Chicago proud.

Till next time.

Tell ‘Em Tyrus: My All-Star Weekend Thoughts

By Tyrus Thomas

Although I didn’t attend All-Star Weekend this year, I’ve been watching the festivities. And first I have to say, CHI-TOWN STAND UP!!!! I know you all seen my man D-Rose bring home the crown in the skills competition. Congratulations Rook!

Man, the slam dunk contest was crazy! JR and Fernandez did some impressive dunks, but Nate and Dwight had the crowd into it. I loved the whole kryptonite deal by Nate.

Now, I know everybody wants to know about the trade rumors. But I must say, I honestly want to stay in Chicago. I love my teammates, my organization and this beautiful city. However, this situation is beyond my control. Hopefully on the 19th I’m still a Bull. Keep your fingers crossed for me y’all!

Tell ‘Em Tyrus: Big Ups For Obama

By Tyrus Thomas

It was absolutely amazing to watch President Obama’s inauguration ceremonies. For the first time in my life I was excited and up to date with politics. I think this is a great time for our country. Not only does President Obama represent progression for African-Americans, he represents change for our country. I think we as a country were in desperate need of change. I’m am a huge supporter of President Obama, and can’t wait to see the progress he makes while he’s in office. I only ask one thing of the people is not to put “unrealistic” expectations on President Obama. I’m more than positive that he’s going to do his best to serve this country. But we can’t add extra pressure and demand immediate results. Patience people. I have to go work out so I will talk to y’all later.
