It can be yours. For super serious. Via the NBCs, Steiner Auctions is auctioning off Notre Dame’s football stadium’s old scoreboard to one very lucky bidder. The opening bid is at $1,988. As far as I know, Touchdown Jesus is not for sale.

It would be easy to ridicule Notre Dame in some fashion here — because that’s always fun to do — but I’m going to refrain in this instance. If I had the chance to own a huge scoreboard from a stadium I loved and was able to display it somewhere within the confines of my place, I would definitely do it.

Only problem is this: I’m currently a renter in an apartment. Also, this thing is 40 feet in width. Also, I’m not aware of U.S. Cellular Field auctioning off its scoreboard anytime soon.

But I would definitively put that thing on the roof of my house someday.

Would you like to own bits and pieces of Shea Stadium? Of course you would. You are a Mets fan and your basement is totally getting overrun with your wife’s Wizard of Oz memorabilia. (WTF: another cowardly lion!) So, you turn to the Web and see all the neat and fantastic things the Mets are currently auctioning off on their Web site. Like this awesome, one-of-a-kind elevator sign (it’s even double-sided!) for the current price of $455. Or perhaps this family bathroom sign, which is going for the absurdly-low price of $165. (Act fast, the bidding halts at the end of the month!)

Don’t forget this AIG advertisement outfield wall panel either … wait a second. This must be how we’re funding the buyout. It’s all so clear now.
