This is seriously a tremendous feat, and something I’m not sure I’ve ever quite realized is a possiblity. Even in losing, you’re a winner. A second-to-last place winner.
The Bulls took on the Jazz last evening in London — t’was the afternoon here in Chicago — and they ended up winning 102-101. Cool, right? But what if I told you the Bulls won in exciting fashion, as James Johnson hit a buzzer beater as time expired … would that interest you?
I don’t mean to diminish the Bulls’ first-round draft selection’s accomplishment — not only did he hit the game-winner, but he had 18 points and eight boards — but did anyone else happen to catch DeJuan Blair’s line last night? He went for 16 points (6-15 FG, 4-6 FT), 19 rebounds (eight offensive), two assists and one steal in just 22 minutes. I know Blair has bad knees and that’s why a lot of teams — including the Bulls — stayed away, but that is just insanity.
If he stays healthy, Blair is gonna be a beast. And, um, yeah: way to go James!
