Funny Brewers Fan Is Selling Jeff Suppan on eBay

By Will Brinson

eBay has secretly been one of the biggest boons for bloggers since Al Gore invented the Internet several thousand years ago. Whether it’s fans selling their fanhood, or Manny Ramirez selling his grill or our co-workers selling themselves for Super Bowl tickets … well, you get the point: endless fun.

But here’s a new one for you: the folks at Homer Derby bring word that one lucky smartass Brewers fan tried to actually sell Jeff Suppan on eBay. And, naturally, the starting bid was a penny.

Jeff Suppan For Sale - Worthless Pitcher from Brewers

Buy Suppan, Get Billy Hall for Free

Now, obviously, it’s not exactly legal to “traffic in humans” on the Internet (or anywhere, really) so eBay did the boring thing and took the auction down. I mean, it would have been at least mildly amusing to let this run for a few hours, right? Just to see how much Suppan could end up going for? It would have probably been closer to his equivalent value than what the Brewers are actually paying him, right?

But what would be awesome — as a possible result of this — is that some player really does buck up and say “If I underperform in this year or x month or whatever, I will will allow the team to sell me on eBay.” And, yeah, I know it’s not going to happen with anyone we care about, but how about a player like, say, Lastings Milledge, who just happens to be the perfect combo of “worthless” and “crazy” to make this happen.

You Can Own Michael Jordan’s Guitar

By Ryan Corazza

According to the eBay listing for the above guitar, Gibson gave this limited-edition guitar to Michael Jordan and every one of his Bulls teammates. (The year is not specified, but I’m betting it was sometime in the 90s during one of the two three-peats.)

As you can see, it’s signed by MJ. It’s currently going for a cool $10,000. What I really want to know? How much Luc Longley’s guitar is worth.

It’s that time of year again, folks. The Holiday season — notice I didn’t write Christmas, we’re PC like that over here — is rapidly approaching and you’ll soon be searching for that special gift for that special someone. They don’t want another sweater. They don’t want jewelry. The don’t want a gift certificate to Border’s. Oh no, they deserve so much better. It’s time to get original. Time to buck convention. It’s time to scour eBay and buy them the Muhammad Ali body cast (via FirstCuts):

Bidding starts at $7 million. You might think that’s a lot of money, and I can’t disagree. But remember: you can’t put a price on love.

Mike Ditka Blogs And It Is Indeed Glorious

By Will Brinson

Mike Ditka is definitely on the short list of “aging sports people I want to see given unfiltered Internet writing privileges.” Well, wish granted.

I stumbled upon this little goldmine while “researching”  — via  ESPN the Mag and Extra P — the Gridiron Greats charity, and there’s a recent five blog posts from a celebrity golf tournament that includes entries from Michael Irvin and this bit of poetry from Dit-ka.

Well here we are at Lost Dunes Golf Course folks.

It is BEAUTIFUL weather. It is a great day.

I gave my speech, we took a picture. But my game is not on top of the world.

Inches away from the hole, and I three putted. F*** this game!!!!

I just can’t wait to hit the clubhouse after my round!!! UGH!!!

What a man of the people. I totally said the same thing on Sunday night. And speaking of helping the little guy out, Ditka and the rest of the Gridiron Greats board are played golf last weekend in an effort to raise money, which they do primarily, if I understand this right, by auctioning off their collective memorabilia.
