Prank War 7: Streeter Tricks Amir Into Thinking He Made Blindfolded Half-Court Shot At Maryland Game

By Ryan Corazza

UPDATE: It’s come to my attention that Amir probably figured this out early on considering his guard is up for this kind of stuff, and there were cameras on him off-court while he was signing forms, but played along for the sake of the prank. Whatever. It’s still pretty funny.

Truth be told, I’m a bit of a CollegeHumor fanboy. I started reading the site six years ago as a high school senior. I don’t really read it anymore per se, but I’m a big fan of some of their personalities, including but not limited to Jake and Amir.

So it was with great delight last night that my Tumblr dashboard blew up, letting everyone know a new prank had emerged between Streeter and Amir, and the video would be readily available this morning. A year and a half ago, Amir orchestrated a fake proposal for Streeter and his then-girlfriend at a Yankee game. Last night at halftime of the Maryland-Wake Forest game, Streeter tricked Amir into thinking he made a blindfolded half-court shot for $500,000. It’s pure brilliance.

Watch and enjoy:

Tyree Evans Speaks To Us About Leaving Maryland, Gary Williams And Kent State

By Ryan Corazza

Times are tough for Gary Williams and his Maryland Terrapins this year. They are perhaps going to miss the tournament for the fourth time in five years.

There has been talk Williams’ days as head coach are numbered. A few days back, he lashed out, defending the fact that had the athletic department let some of the players he brought in stay, his team might be better off this season. (Though, Chas Rich points out Williams might be reaching a bit at this point.)

Kathy Worthington, an associate AD, responded back to Williams, saying his remarks were “inaccurate” and saying she was “very surprised by Gary’s comments because I had been so involved with each recruit.”

Then Williams said this: “Kathy Worthington doesn’t speak for me. She has never won a national championship. She has never done anything. She is an associate AD.”

It’s a bit of a “he said, she said” battle at this point, but it’s clear Williams isn’t quite a fan of Debbie Yow and her department. One of the players affected by all this was Tyree Evans.

Evans has been adamant he left Maryland on his own terms, a statement Williams backed up. There were rumblings Yow was the real reason behind his departure, because she wasn’t a fan of Evans’ criminal background and was going to subject him to a review by the Office of Student Conduct before he could be admitted to the school.

Our interview with Evans from today on this topic is after the jump.

A Completely Subjective Breakdown Of Tonight’s Big Ten/ACC Challenge Games

By Ryan Corazza

After last night’s docket, the Big Ten/ACC Challenge is notted up at 3-3. And if Illinois had actually decided to SHOOT THE BALL BEFORE THE CLOCK RAN OUT, and Iowa didn’t send a kid to the line that was 3-of-14 on FT attempts on the year, there’s a chance — a small chance — the Big Ten could be up 5-1 in the challenge. A challenge they’ve never won since its inception in 1999.

But no, it’s knotted up at 3-3. Here’s how I see it playing out.

Indiana at Wake Forest — Did you see how Indiana looked against Notre Dame and St. John’s in the Maui Invitational? Hint: The Hoosiers did not look very good. Wake Forest is a 24-point favorite. If my alma mater pulls this off against the Demon Decons, I will give each reader of this blog a brand new puppy.*

North Carolina at Michigan State — This is an intriguing matchup, with Tyler Hansbrough still iffy for tonight’s affair and freshman Tyler Zeller out for the year. Michigan State is pretty dang good. It’s also at Ford Field. But yeah: This is North Carolina; there was a reason they were the unanimous preseason No. 1. Carolina wins this won.
