Some Wrigleyville Bar Owners Officially Cave On Voluntary Alcohol Cutoff
So, looks like some bar owners are actually going to comply with this whole “let’s not serve alcohol to our patrons after the seventh-inning stretch of a clinching game, but resume after the ninth inning” ordinance the city tossed out at them last week.
A group of bar owners met with some city officials today and said bar owners came out a bit grumpy. A warranted grumpy.
Lawless, owner of the Irish Oak, 3511 N. Clark St., emerged from the meeting with city officials and said of the pact: “I’m not happy with it.”
“We are well capable of handling our own business,” he said. “You say it’s voluntarily, but, c’mon, it’s a directive from the city.”
It was not immediately clear if the deal reached with some Wrigleyville bar owners would be agreed to by their counterparts near U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox.
To Cubs fans I say this: figure out which bars are following this thing and don’t go to them. Pretty simple. To Sox fans wondering whether the bars around the Cell might befall a similar fate I say: what bars?
