6′9 275 lb big man Dan Lopez from South Elgin has committed to Sacramento State University. I was the first “reporter” to find out about it, as he told me about it on Sunday at the Full Package Exposure League brought to you by Illinoishsbasketball.com. The strange thing about this, though, is that Dan committed on a visit to their campus over two weeks ago and just never thought it neccessary to tell anyone!

Dan has come a long way, blossoming from just another big man project to a legitimate offensive and defensive threat in the post. He did so thanks to his hard work with Illinois Old School this summer, as well as working hard with his South Elgin teammates and with Full Package Athletics’ Steve Pratt. Lopez is arguably the scariest looking man I have ever come across, standing at 6 foot 9 with 275 pounds of pure muscle, but when talking to him you realize he is just an all around nice guy who loves to joke around and loves the game of basketball.

I could not be happier for Dan that he has found a school that is a right fit for him on and off the court. Furthermore, I could not be happier for Sac State Head Coach Brian Katz and assistant Brady Bergeson, both of whom I consider great friends, as they have just added a great piece to the Sac State family.
