The Chicago Bears finalized contracts with nine draft picks last week that are expected to become the new generation of the roster. With four-year contracts for each pick, the Bears aim to round out the future of the organization.

Juaquin Iglesias

As of June 10, the Chicago Bears have officially inked all nine of their draft picks: Henry Melton, D.J. Moor, Johnny Knox, Marcus Freeman, Al Afalava, lance Louis, Derek Kinder, Jarron Gilbert and Juaquin Iglesias.

Each pick signed a four-year contract with the Bears and boast impressive college records that are expected to serve Chicago well during this transitional season where new quarterback Jay Cutler will step into an already scrutinized position and the veterans will be looked upon for leadership.

Gilbert and Iglesias were the first of the nine players selected, but come equipped with perhaps the most stand-out resumes. Gilbert hails from San Jose State where he was named WAC co-defensive player of the year during his senior season with the Spartans. Gilbert totals 38 starts and 48 appearances over his four-year college career as both defensive end and defensive tackle with 22 tackles-for-loss in his 12 starts during his senior year alone.

Iglesias leaves his Oklahoma State Sooners only after breaking several school records during his four years, including the second highest all-time record of 202 receptions and 2,821 yards, third all-time with 19 touchdown receptions and top record of 1,664 kickoff return yards — a record that might just give Devin Hester a run for his money.
