A three-run homer from catcher Ramon Castro lifted the White Sox past the Cleveland Indians to secure a series sweep and their fifth consecutive victory. Jose Contreras hurled eight confident innings giving up just two runs.

The Chicago White Sox swept the Cleveland Indians in a 6-2 final on Wednesday night at Progressive Field.

Jose Contreras threw eight strong innings for the Sox allowing just two runs and one walk to the Tribe. Though Matt Thornton looked a bit uneasy in the ninth when he gave up one walk with two outs on the board, he managed to keep it together long enough to seal the team's series sweep.

Although it was Cleveland who managed to put up the first run of the evening with a ground out from Grady Sizemore that drove in Jamey Carroll, it was Alexei Ramirez who answered the call for the Sox in the fifth with an RBI single that sent Gordon Beckham home and tied up the game at one.

It was their four-run sixth inning, however, that pushed the Sox ahead of the Tribe and kept them there long enough to earn their fifth straight victory.

Ramon Castro knocked out a three-run homer followed by an RBI single from Gordon Beckham to make it a four-run ball game by the bottom of the inning. Beckham's single brings his hit streak to six-straight games.

Shin-Soo Choo attempted to rally his Tribe with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth, but it wasn't enough to take the lead. Paul Konerko drove in the sixth and final run of the game in the seventh with an RBI double.
