Reports have emerged confirming the release of Chicago Bears guard Terrence Metcalf Wednesday afternoon. The 2002 third-round-draft pick is best known for his 13-game starts in 2005 that helped lead the Bears to their NFC North Division title win.

According to ChicagoBears.com, Terrence Metcalf was released from the team Wednesday afternoon. A third-round-draft pick from Mississippi in 2002, Metcalf has spent seven seasons with Chicago appearing in 84 games.

After only six games last season, the 310-pound guard received a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policies regarding anabolic steroids and related substances. Though he was reinstated by November 24th, Metcalf did not return to the field until the final five games.

Metcalf's 13 starts in 2005 helped lead Chicago to their first of back-to-back NFC North Division titles.
